My first novel, Still Kickin', was published in May 2025 by Tuleburg Press, marking an important milestone in my journey as one of the emerging California authors. The novel is set in the San Joaquin Valley of California, where I was born and raised. After relocating to the Bay Area to attend San Francisco State University (BA English), I often return to the valley to visit family and attend reunions.
I co-authored a biography of my grandmother, A Little Piece of Leather Well Put Together, with my cousin Joyce Hanson, and I also had a poem published in Spectrum 18. Additionally, my essay on racism aired on Perspectives on KQED public radio. I contributed the first chapter of my novel, Still Kickin', to Table of 10: An Anthology, which was published in memory of Camille Minichino. Currently, I am writing my second novel, Some Greens for my Blues, set in post-WWII Oakland, California.
As a proud member of the California Writers Club, I actively participate in a critique group of accomplished and published Bay Area writers. I work as an educator and literacy coach, am an avid mystery reader, and spend my free time enjoying my family, writing, exploring Bay Area trails with my GirlTrek sisters, attending blues and jazz concerts, and traveling abroad as frequently as possible.
